Kanna powder

What is Kanna Powder?

Kanna Powder is a traditional South African herbal product made from Sceletium tortuosum, a succulent long appreciated for its calming and mood-supporting qualities. It is designed for simple tea use: add one to three grams to a cup, steep for ten minutes, and do not exceed five grams in a day.

Native to South Africa, this succulent has long been used to unwind and support a brighter, more balanced mood. Depending on the amount, it can feel gently uplifting or more soothing. This powder is the whole herb rather than a concentrated extract, so it is an easy place to start. Stronger 10x, 20x, and 40x extracts are available separately.

This product is for informed adults who prefer a measured herbal ritual. Responses differ from person to person. Begin with a smaller cup, stay within the stated maximum, and give the tea time to work before considering more.

History of Kanna Powder

Khoekhoe and San communities in South Africa used Sceletium tortuosum for centuries as a companion on journeys, in social gatherings, and in moments that called for ease. They often chewed fermented or dried plant material, later nicknamed kougoed. European writers described the herb more widely in the nineteenth century, so many modern accounts begin there, even though indigenous use is far older.

The plant grows in South Africa’s dry landscapes and was valued for mood, thirst, and a steady sociable feeling rather than as a harsh intoxicant. Local knowledge carried the tradition long before it reached contemporary herbal shelves.

Today the herb has a second life among people seeking natural relaxation and mental balance. That revival is strongest when it honors the South African origin instead of treating kanna as a new wellness invention. A modest pack of the powdered herb keeps the story small, practical, and respectful.

Ingredients of Kanna Powder

The only ingredient is Sceletium tortuosum, the South African succulent traditionally known as kanna. This pack contains the dried herb in powdered form and nothing else: no fillers, no flavors, and no added extracts. It is the same species that local communities have used for generations.

The plant is a low-growing succulent. After drying and grinding, the material is used as a simple herbal tea. Its qualities come from the whole plant rather than a single isolated compound. Like other botanicals, aroma and strength can vary slightly with harvest, so a modest first cup is the wisest way to meet it.

This powder is the everyday herb. Stronger 10x, 20x, and 40x extracts are offered separately if you later want more concentration. Here the point is clarity: one species, a tea-friendly powder, and a form that fits a calm, adult ritual.

Warning Do not use together with medicines or other stimulants. Sale and use under the age of 18 are not permitted. Do not take part in traffic during use and for 16 hours afterward. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dark place. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
